A large dump site of an estimated 300 to 400 tires was discovered on Pit Fork Road in south Scott County, just north of the Polk County line Sunday afternoon. Sources close to the investigation say that it has connections to Polk County businesses.
Arkansas Forestry Commission LEO Billy Black told The Pulse that the discovery was made by a private citizen. He and LEO from the U.S. Forest Service responded and found the almost 400 tires dumped in the middle of the roadway.
The investigation is on-going but Black could confirm that they do have one suspect identified and an arrest is imminent, at which time the respective agencies can release further details and the Polk County connection.
The Solid Waste Management Division of the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) is responsible for regulating the proper handling, processing and disposal of non-hazardous solid waste, such as tires.
