A small single engine aircraft traveling from Mena went down in a clearcut area around 5 p.m. this evening [Wednesday, June 8, 2016] near Pine Bluff, Arkansas, injuring one and claiming another’s life. According to Arkansas State Police, a call was received at 5:01 p.m. Wednesday reporting a plane crash southwest of Pine Bluff in a rural area of Jefferson County, near the Grant County Line.
The area of the crash was reported to be partially wooded but mostly clearcut of timber. The plane is believed to have had two passengers, both of Mena, but Arkansas State Police have not confirmed nor released the identities of the occupants.

The injured passenger was taken to Jefferson Regional Hospital in Pine Bluff, where he is being treated for unknown injuries. The fatality victim was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab awaiting positive identification.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause of the crash.
