As many local residents are grappling with the all too familiar scene in Central Arkansas following last night’s devastating tornado, their true character quickly emerges as they look for ways to contribute and help these storm ravaged communities. James Reeves, Polk County Emergency Management Manager, has announced that the new Salvation Army Thrift Store, located on the corner of Sherwood Avenue and 4th Street, will be a drop-off location beginning Monday afternoon. Currently, the store is waiting on the trailer to arrive to collect the donations that will be transported directly to the hard-hit areas of Vilonia, Mayflower and El Paso but is expected this afternoon.
Items in need are: cleaning supplies, personal hygiene, work gloves, yard rakes & bottled water. Please no clothing at this time.
The local effort is being made possible by the Salvation Army and a number of local church organizations.
