Local XCountry Teams Compete In Stuthard Stampede


On Tuesday, September 26th, the local Acorn, Cossatot River, and Mena Cross-Country teams competed in the Stuthard Stampede meet at Acorn High School.

In the Junior High Girls race, the DeQueen Leopards placed first with Waldron in second, Mansfield in third, Acorn in fourth, Horatio in fifth, Heavner in sixth, Mena in seventh, and Cossatot in eighth. Keira Hall of Mena came in second overall.

In the Junior High Boys race, the Mena Bearcats came in first place with the Acorn Tigers in second, DeQueen in third, Mansfield in fourth, Cossatot River in fifth, Heavener in sixth, and Waldron in seventh. Logan Meyers of Mena placed first overall, while Justice Neufield of Acorn came in second, Thaddeus Nance of Mena in fourth, Caleb Peters of Mena in sixth, Brady Hair of Acorn in seventh, Jake Lyle of Acorn in eighth, and Daimien Bohlman of Acorn in tenth.

The DeQueen Leopards also placed first in the Senior High Girls race, with Mansfield in second, Acorn in third, Heavener in fourth, Horatio in fifth, Mena in sixth, Waldron in seventh, and Mount Ida in eighth. Faith Hill of Acorn placed fourth overall in the race with teammate Kendra Branson in ninth.

In the Senior High Boys race, the DeQueen Leopards placed first again, with Acorn in second, Waldron in third, Heavener in fourth, Horatio in fifth, Cossatot River in sixth, Mena in seventh, and Mansfield in eighth. Cross Hughes of Acorn came in fifth overall, as Robert McIntyre placed sixth, and Brady Lyle of Acorn came in tenth.
