Officers were called to a local fast food restaurant regarding an individual who was scaring customers with his odd behavior. The man left the premises

July 8, 2013

Officers responded to a verbal altercation between two men. The men agreed to stop the bickering.

Employees at a local convenience store reported a gas-skip in the amount of $37.00. Case is pending further investigation and review of surveillance tapes.

Employees of the City of Mena Parks Department reported that someone had vandalized Janssen Park. Case is pending review of surveillance tapes.

Officers responded to an alarm call at a local business. The area was found to be secure.

July 9, 2013

John Smith, 39, of Bethel, OK was charged with seven counts of terroristic threatening, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest after a call to the local hospital regarding an out-of-control man.

Two separate incidents were reported of someone using a permanent marker to mark on vehicles in a local neighborhood.  Case is pending.

Employees at a local convenience store reported a gas skip in the amount of $42.50. Case is pending.

Mary Pace, 56, of Mena was charged with public intoxication after a call regarding a possible break-in of a vehicle.

July 10, 2013

A Mena woman reported that her 15-year-old daughter was missing. She was later located at a friend’s house.

July 11, 2013

A local woman reported that she and her boyfriend had been in an altercation, but she declined to seek prosecution.

Daniel T. Breashears, 35, of Mena was arrested on two outstanding warrants for failure-to-appear.

July 12, 2013

Officers responded to a domestic disturbance at a local residence. The parties refused to pursue prosecution.

Report was taken of vandalism to the marquee at a local church. Someone had rearranged the lettering to spell inappropriate message. Case is pending.

July 13, 2013

A local woman reported that someone had stolen a cast iron stove from her front porch.  The theft occurred while she was out-of-town. Case is pending further investigation.

Employees at a local convenience store reported a gas-skip in the amount of $60.02. Case is pending.

A Mena man reported that someone had stolen several items from a shop building in his yard. Case is pending interview of suspects.

Zachary Frost Markowitz, 29, of Fort Smith was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license.

Officers completed an additional 12 reports and worked four accidents.

July 14, 2013

Donald Keith Bradley, 38, of Mena was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant from Polk County for failure-to-pay fines and court costs.

July 15, 2013

A local woman reported that she is being harassed and threatened by a former boyfriend.  Case is pending interview of all parties involved.

A local business owner found a wallet in his mailbox and notified police.  They retrieved the wallet and contacted the owner who came to the police department to collect the property.

A Mena woman reported that neighborhood children have been vandalizing her pickup by “keying” it.  Case is pending.

July 16, 2013

An employee of a local bank reported a counterfeit twenty-dollar bill that had been received.  Case is pending.

Report was taken of a very small child roaming the neighborhood unattended.  The child was located and the mother notified.  DHS was alerted of the circumstances.

July 17, 2013

Report was taken of a gas-skip in the amount of $29.47. Case is pending.

A Mena woman reported that she had seen someone prowling near the back of her property.  The area was searched with negative results.

Kenneth M. Paup, 46, of Mena was arrested for probation violation.

July 18, 2013

A local woman reported that neighborhood children had been throwing rocks and that a window on her car was broken. The guardians of the children were contacted and agreed to pay for the damages.

Albert J. Watson, 37, of Mena was arrested on an outstanding warrant from the Polk County sheriff’s office.

Gerald E. Thomas, 53, of Mena was arrested  on an outstanding warrant for failure-to-pay fines and court costs.

July 19, 2013

A 12-year-old Mena boy was charged with vandalism after an incident at the bathrooms at Janssen Park.  The case is ongoing and there are other suspects.

A Mena woman reported that someone had “egged” her residence.  Case is pending.

A local woman was cited for cruelty to animals after she left her dog in a vehicle when the heat index was 95 degrees.

July 20, 2013

A Mena woman reported that a tire had been slashed on her vehicle while it was on the parking lot where she works.  Case is pending review of surveillance tapes of the area.

A 10-year-old Mena boy was charged with disorderly conduct after an incident involving the ducks at Janssen Park.  Another suspect is being sought.

Officers completed an additional 12 reports and worked seven accidents.

Please do not leave children or animals unattended in vehicles when the temperatures are high.  It takes only a short period of time for serious injuries to occur, and you can be ticketed.
