Trainees completed a 40 hour Personal Care Aide Training Course held in Mena at the Polk County Health Department.
They learned how to care for individuals who are elderly and/or disabled. Activities of daily living were taught along with proper hand washing techniques, infection control, proper body mechanics, HIPPA, fall prevention, home and patient safety and other personal care aide duties. Trainees completed a written and clinical test.
Guest speakers included: Jennifer Rollins, Nutritionist for ADH; Stacey Randall, PTA from Ouachita Physical Therapy Services; Kyle Robertson, Hometown Medical; Joey Woodfield, Environmental Specialist, ADH; Ellen Young, RN, ADH and Bonnie Carr, Hometown Health Coordinator, ADH.
Instructors were Echo Donahou, RN; Amy Smiley, RN; Debbie Fox, LPN and assisting was Stacy Standridge, HSSII.
