There will be three chances for Polk County citizen’s to take part in community Thanksgiving celebrations. Each of the dinners have their own agenda and each serves hundreds each Thanksgiving.
The first will come on November 19th, as the 67th annual Thanksgiving Supper is held at the Vandervoort Elementary Cafeteria. From 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Saturday the 19th, a chicken and dressing meal can be purchased for $6 per plate. Proceeds benefit the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO).
The annual Community Thanksgiving Celebration will be held on Sunday, November 20th from 5 – 8 p.m. at the National Guard Armory at 504 North Morrow Street in Mena.
There will be Thanksgiving music, a short movie, and a family fellowship meal. Everyone is invited. Bring plenty of food to share as Thanksgiving is celebrated together. The event is sponsored by the Mena Ministerial Alliance. Please note that the event is at the new Armory, which is close to Rich Mountain Community College.
The Covenant of Life Family Church in Mena will host the 23rd annual Don’t Eat Home Alone This Thanksgiving Day, November 24th. The event is held each year for people that may not have family locally and don’t want to eat home alone during the holiday. Everyone is invited to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal at 12 noon on Thanksgiving Day at Covenant Life Family Church at 1101 Pine Avenue in Mena. Not only will you receive a great meal, you will also be able to enjoy great fellowship.
