Polk County Sheriff’s Department – April 28 – May 4, 2014

The following information was received from Polk County Sheriff Mike Godfrey for the week of April 28 – May 4, 2014.  The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts.  Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.

April 28, 2014

Arrested was Shawn A. Long, 37, of Mena, on Warrants for Failure to Appear and Probation Violation.

Report from walk-in complainant of a physical altercation.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report of a domestic disturbance on Polk 301 near the Cherry Hill community led to the arrest of Joshua T. Penny, 37, of Mena, on Charges of Domestic Battery 3rd Degree and Terroristic Threatening 2nd Degree.

Report from complainant on Highway 278 East near Wickes of the theft of fishing equipment, valued at $300.00.  Investigation continues.

Report of a two vehicle accident on Highway 71 North near Mena led to a citation being issued to Samantha Cabrera, 26, of Bentonville, on a Charge of No Driver’s License.

Report from complainant on Moffet Street in Vandervoort of the theft of a wallet and jewelry, valued at $1,010.00.  The jewelry was located and returned to the owner.  Investigation continues regarding the wallet.

Report of a missing 16-year-old Mena female.  The youth was located and issued a Juvenile Citation for Disorderly Conduct, then released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

Arrested by an officer with the Probation & Parole Office was Richard M. Thornton, 30, of Austin, TX, on a Sebastian County Warrant.

April 29, 2014

Arrested was Trevis L. Hubbs, 24, of Mena, on a Warrant for Probation Violation.

Report of a domestic disturbance on Highway 8 West near Mena led to the arrest of Lydia J. Rodgers, 24, of Mena, on Charges of Fleeing and Reckless Driving.

Report from complainant on Reid Lane near Mena of the theft of various household goods, valued at $105.00.  Investigation continues.

April 30, 2014

Report of a disorderly 15-year-old Mena male led to the youth being issued Juvenile Citations for Harassment and Disorderly Conduct.  The juvenile was released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

Report of an unauthorized person at a residence on Polk 44 near Mena led to the arrest of Gerald E. Thomas, 54, of Mena, on a Charge of Criminal Trespass.

May 1, 2014

Arrested was Cameron D. Foster, 21, of Mena, on a Warrant for Failure to Comply with a Court Order.

Report from walk-in complainant of the theft of a paint sprayer, valued at $300.00.  Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Polk 93 near the Shady Grove community of a break-in.  Nothing appeared to be missing.  Investigation continues.

May 2, 2014

Report of an unruly individual in the lobby of the Polk County Detention Center led to the arrest of Benito A. Munoz, 21, of Mena, on Charges of Disorderly Conduct and Obstructing Governmental Operations.

Report from a local college student of a missing calculator.  Investigation continues.

Report of a disturbance on Polk 87 near the Ink community led to the arrest of Dana D. Egger, 37, of Mena, on Charges of Public Intoxication and Criminal Trespass.

Report from complainant on West Johnson Street in Hatfield of an unauthorized person on their property.  Investigation continues.

May 3, 2014

Report from walk-in complainant of being harassed on the roadway by an individual in another vehicle.  Investigation continues.

Report from complainant on Polk 42 near Mena of being harassed by an individual.  Investigation continues.

Arrested was Lonnie L. Duncan, 35, of Mena, on a Charge of Public Intoxication.

Traffic stop on Highway 246 West near Hatfield led to the arrest of Ricky D. Miller, 53, of Cove, on Charges of DWI, No Liability Insurance, Driving with a Suspended Driver’s License and Driving Left of Center, and Warrants for Violation of the Arkansas Hot Check Law and Failure to Appear.

Report of an ATV accident on Polk 96 near the Acorn community.  The victim was transported to Mena Regional Health System Helipad and airlifted to a Hot Springs hospital.

May 4, 2014

Report of a domestic disturbance on Red Bird Lane near Mena led to the arrest of Melinda F. Kuykendall, 37, of Mena, on Charges of Domestic Battery 3rd Degree and Resisting Arrest.

Report from complainant on Polk 617 near the Board Camp community of someone placing roofing nails in their driveway.  Investigation continues.

Arrested by a trooper with the Arkansas State Police was Daniel J. May, 18, of Mena, on Charges of Speeding, Fleeing, Reckless Driving, Endangering the Welfare of a Minor 1st Degree, No Driver’s License and Possession of an Instrument of Crime.

Polk County Sheriff’s Office worked two vehicle accidents this week.

Polk County Detention Center Jail Population: 30 Incarcerated Inmates; 14 Inmates currently on the Waiting List for a State Facility, of which 5 are out on a monitoring system.
