Polk County Sheriff’s Department July 15 – July 21, 2013

The following information was received from Polk County law enforcement agencies. The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts. Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.

July 15, 2013

Report of a disturbance in the Polk County Detention Center led to the arrest of Anthony W. Cottman, 25, of Mena, on Charges of Battery 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest.

Report from complainant on Polk 295 near Hatfield of the theft of gasoline, a weedeater and frozen meat, totaling losses at $145.00.  Investigation continues.

Report from walk-in complainant of a custody dispute.

Report from complainant on Polk 40 near the Potter community of the fraudulent use of a credit card, totaling losses at $81.79.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Arrested by a trooper with the Arkansas State Police was Douglas R. Manley, 30, of Hatfield, on Charges of DWI and Faulty Equipment.

July 18, 2013

Arrested was Thomas L. Kidwell, 34, of Mena, on Charges of Criminal Trespass, Public Intoxication and Disorderly Conduct.

Report from complainant on Jones Lane near Mena of the theft of a jewelry box valued at $20.00.  Investigation continues.

Arrested was Emil Rath III, 38, of Mena, on a Louisiana Warrant for Abusive Sexual Contact with a Minor.

Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Earl S. Evans, 44, of Grannis, on a Warrant for Failure to Appear.

July 19, 2013

Report from complainant on Polk 44 near Mena of unauthorized persons on their property.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report of a stolen vehicle led to a 17-year-old Cove male being issued a Juvenile Citation for Filing a False Report.  The juvenile was later released to the custody of a parent/guardian.

Arrested was Joshua A. Graham, 23, of Mena, on Warrants for Probation Violation and Failure to Comply with a Court Order.

Report from walk-in complainant of being threatened during a child custody exchange.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Sabrina J. Miranda, 25, of Grannis, on Charges of Public Intoxication and Disorderly Conduct.

Arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department was Policarpio Rios, 41, of Wickes, on Charges of DWI and Failure to Yield.

July 20, 2013

Report from a business in the Cherry Hill community of a gas drive-off, totaling losses at $65.00.

Traffic stop on Highway 246 West near Hatfield led to the arrest of Christina N. Abdollahi-Rad, 28, of Baton Rogue, LA, on Charges of DWI, Driving Left of Center and Driving with a Suspended Driver’s License.  Also arrested was Jody L. Higgins, 48, of Mena, on a Body Attachment Warrant.

Report from complainant on Polk 178 near Mena of the theft of a power washer, washer and dryer, and a weedeater, all valued at $305.00.  Investigation continues.

Report of a party involving underage drinking led to a 15-year-old Mena male being issued Juvenile Citations for Public Intoxication, Fleeing and Possession of an Intoxicating Liquor by a Minor.  Also issued a citation was Christine Higgins, 37 of Mena, on a Charge of Knowingly Furnishing Alcohol to a Minor.

July 21, 2013

Arrested was Joseph D. Gonyea, 24, of Mena, on a Warrant for Failure to Comply with a Court Order and an Oklahoma Warrant.

Arrested was Brian J. Mcanelly, 33, of Pencil Bluff, on a Warrant for Failure to Comply with a Court Order.

Report from complainant on Polk 73 near the Ink community of problems with a neighbor’s cattle.  Information has been provided to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for further consideration.

Report from complainant on Amber Lane near Mena of the theft of coins, certificates, gold dollars, jewelry and prescription medication, all valued at $13,392.50.  Investigation continues.
