The following information was received from Polk County Sheriff Scott Sawyer for the week of September 2, 2024 – September 8, 2024. The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts. Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.
September 2, 2024
Deputies responded to a residence on Cardinal Lane near Acorn in reference to a theft.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Hwy 8 E near Board Camp in reference to a disturbance leading to the arrest of James Holtzclaw, Jr., 33, of Mena on charges of Disorderly Conduct and Public Intoxication.
September 3, 2024
Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Hwy 4 West near Cove in reference to a vehicle accident leading to Chad Reed, 44, of Cove being issued a citation for DWI-Drugs, and Careless and Prohibited Driving.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Hwy 8 West near Mena in reference to a vehicle accident leading to the arrest of Floyd Knight, 42, of Mena on charges of DWI, and Careless and Prohibited Driving.
September 4, 2024
Khaja Mohammed, 31, of Houston, TX was arrested on a warrant for Theft.
Deputies responded to a report of a theft of property.
September 5, 2024
Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Polk 286 near Hatfield in reference to a structure fire.
Brandon Rose, 26, of Mena was arrested by an officer with Probation Parole on a probation violation.
Deputies responded to a walk-in complainant in reference to theft.
September 6, 2024
Eric Sorenson, 37, of Cove was arrested to be held for another agency.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Hwy 270 W near Acorn in reference to an unattended child. Information has been forwarded to the Prosecuting Attorney for further consideration.
September 7, 2024
Deputies were dispatched to Polk 618 near Shady in reference to an ATV accident.
Deputies responded to a report of a firearm being found at Lake Wilhelmina.
Herbert Slater, 39, of Mena was arrested by an officer with the Grannis Police Department on a Failure to Appear Warrant.
September 8, 2024
Deputies responded to a residence on Martin Lane near Cove in reference to a suicidal individual.
Deputies were dispatched to a report of a vehicle accident near Polk 31 and Polk 282 near Hatfield leading to the arrest of Madalyn Dixon, 18, of Cove on charges of Minor in Possession of Alcohol. Also arrested was Chelsea Carterby, 18, of Cove on a charge of Minor in Possession of Alcohol.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office worked 3 vehicle accidents this week.
