The Acorn Tigers senior high basketball team started off their season with a bang on Tuesday, October 17th, against the Ouachita Warriors.
Acorn sported their new white tops and blue shorts uniforms to kickoff the game, as the Warriors wore their away green uniforms.
The Tigers won the tipoff and scored the first four points of the game, before going on to outscore Ouachita 17-11 in the first quarter, to take a six point lead into the second. In the second quarter, Leo Jacinto knocked down six three pointers for Acorn, to help extend their lead to nineteen going into halftime, with the score 44-25.
Leo Jacinto led the Tigers with 21 points at halftime, as Titus McBay led Ouachita with 12 points.
To start off the third quarter, the Tigers went on a 10-3 run, forcing Ouachita to call a timeout just a few minutes into the half. Acorn went on to outscore the Warriors 31-17, to take a 75-42 lead into the final quarter of play. Only ten points of total offense from both teams was scored in the fourth, as the Tigers held to win by thirty-three, 80-47.
On Monday, October 23rd, the Tigers traveled to County Line, but will be back at home against Cossatot on October 30th.
