The Mena senior teams split with Shiloh Christian Friday night before dropping both contests against the Bergman senior teams Saturday night in the UARM Bucks High School Basketball Classic over the weekend in Mena.
The LadyCats went to overtime Friday night before turning back the Lady Saints 51-48. Mena led 24-21 at the half. The game was tied at 43 at the end of regulation. The LadyCats outscored the Lady Saints 8-5 in overtime to secure the victory.
In the senior boys contest, Shiloh Christian pulled out a five point win over the Bearcats 35-30 Friday night. Mena trailed 16-12 at the half, and 24-21 after three quarters, and could never quite get over the hump.
On Saturday night, Bergman raced to a 26-16 haltime lead, and pulled away to post a 47-32 victory over the LadyCats. The Mena girls fall to 4-3 on the season.
In the boys contest, Bergman went on a 11-0 run to open the second quarter to pull ahead 26-10 and never looked back to defeat the Bearcats in senior boys action 63-27. Mena’s boys fall to 1-3 on the year.
