Kate Self and Savannah Levering were crowned Miss and Little Miss Polk County during the annual pageant held Saturday night at Mena’s Performing Arts Center.
Kate is the 18-year old daughter of Jerry and Patricia Self. Savannah is the 5-year old daughter of Cory and Kathleen Levering. Both will work together representing the county through various parades, events and functions throughout the next year.
Besides the coveted crown, Kate also received a scholarship from Rich Mountain Community College and Union Bank of Mena along with gifts and prizes from miscellaneous other pageant sponsors. She tied with fellow contestant Ashlyn Fox for top scores in the interview segment of the competition. She was also selected by the judges as the Most Photogenic from photos taken of all contestants by local photographer Michael Cate of Avalon Keep. Kate was also among three that were voted Miss Congeniality, sharing the honor with Brittiany Presson and Veronica Vanbuskirk.
In the Miss Polk County division of the pageant, 1st runner-up was Ashlyn Fox, 2nd runner-up was Madison Pepper, and 3rd runner-up was Brittiany Presson.
Placing in the Little Miss Polk County division were 1st runner-up Desirae Flores, 2nd runner-up was Madison Rowe, and 3rd runner-up was Acelyn Butterfield.
