The following information was received from Mena Police Department for the week of June 1-7, 2014. The charges against those arrested are allegations and the cases are still pending in the courts. Individuals charged and whose names appear in this column may submit documentation to us at a later date that the charges have been dismissed or that they have been found innocent and we will include that information in this space in a timely manner.
June 1, 2014
Joseph Gonyea, 25, of Mena was charged with DWI, driving on a suspended driver’s license, and refusal to submit to a chemical test. He was also wanted by Sebastian County for an outstanding warrant.
Tammie G. Saunders, 50, of Mena was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Sebastian County.
Johnny Howard, 50, of Mena, was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Sebastian County.
June 2, 2014
Report was taken of a shoplifting case from a local retail store. Case is pending further investigation.
Michael A. Smith, 28, of Cove was arrested on a suspended driver’s license and was charged with having no liability insurance.
June 3, 2014
Report was taken of an altercation at the local swimming pool. Neither party wished to press charges.
A local woman reported that someone had damaged her mailbox. Case is pending.
Mikel Edward Thunder Thomas, 25, of Mena was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, and Stephanie E. Thomas, 38, also of Mena was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
June 4, 2014
A local couple reported that someone had shot a hole in their front window with a bb gun.
Isaac Cain, 20, of Mena was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and also with cruelty to animals after an incident involving the death of a kitten.
June 5, 2014
Ann M. Czarnetski, 48, of Mena was charged with public intoxication and theft by receiving after officers were called to a local street regarding a woman acting strangely.
Nathan M. Abell, 26, of Mena was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
June 6, 2014
Report was taken of the theft and forgery of payroll checks from a local business. Case is pending further investigation and interview of suspect.
Benny Lee Anderson, 41, of Mena was arrested on an outstanding warrant from LeFlore County, Oklahoma.
June 7, 2014
Charles Vincent Brown, 33, of Hatfield was arrested and charged with DWI and driving on a suspended driver’s license for DWI. The arrest followed a routine traffic stop.
Officers completed an additional 10 reports and worked nine accidents.
