
Shirley was born on December 1, 1944 in Cyril, Oklahoma to Oscar Simmons and Claudean Phillips Simmons. She was married to James Russell and was a truck driver hauling livestock for many years. Shirley was very artistic; she enjoyed painting and was a loving homemaker. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and was an excellent seamstress. She attended Cherry Hill Methodist Church and most of all loved her family. She will be dearly missed by all. She was a loving and kind wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to all who knew her.
She is survived by husband of twenty-seven years, James Russell of Mena, Arkansas; sons, Lewis Cozzi and wife Heather of Los Banas, California, James Cozzi and wife Jennifer of Los Banas, California; daughters, Krissi Arburua and husband Don of Los Banas, California, Lorna Russell-Hoobler of Bakersfield, California, Michelle Ross and husband Travis of Mena, Arkansas, Sherry Russell of Bakersfield, California; thirteen grandchildren, three brothers; and six sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Claudean Simmons.
Memorial service will be Thursday, October 26, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at Beasley Wood Chapel with Deborah Head officiating under the direction of Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena.
